Black Belt Camps

The Southeastern region of the Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation had its annual Instructor’s Symposium, Black Belt Camp, and Dan Shim Sa on the weekend of November 7 – 9, 2014. Everything was held once again at Camp ASCCA in Jackson’s Gap, AL. The Instructor Training Symposium (ITS) & Camp started on Friday morning November 7th at 9am. We had 200 Masters, instructors, instructor trainees & students coming together for the weekend to learn, grow, and share.

The Southeastern region of the Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation had its annual Instructor’s Symposium and Black Belt Camp on the weekend of November 1 – 3, 2013. Everything was held once again at Camp ASCCA in Jackson’s Gap, AL. The Instructor Training Symposium (ITS) & Camp started on Friday morning November 1st at 9am.  We had over 170 Masters, instructors, and instructor trainees coming together for the weekend to learn, grow, and share.

The 2013 New England Black Belt Camp was held June 14^th, 15th and 16th in the campus of Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts. Friday night started out with a bang! We had a total of fifteen (15) students take part in the Dan Shim Sa (Black Belt Test) –Nine tested for Cho Dan, two tested for E Dan and four tested for Sam Dan.

 The Southeastern region of the Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation had its second annual Instructor’s Symposium on Friday, November 2^nd & its 10^th annual Black Belt Camp on the weekend of November 2 – 4, 2012. Everything was held once again at Camp ASCCA in Jackson’s Gap, AL. The Instructor Training Symposium (ITS) & Camp started on Friday morning November 2^nd at 9 am with approximately 175 Masters, instructors, and instructor trainees coming together to learn, grow, and share.

The 2012 New England Black Belt Camp was held May 4th, 5th, and 6th in the beautiful Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts at Camp Winadu.

 
Friday night started with ten students taking part in the Dan Shim Sa (Black Belt test). Best of Test went to Riley Curtin, from Cambridge Tang Soo Do, and Samantha Maxwell, from Great Bay Tang Soo Do. Samantha also took top honors in the written exam with a score of 95%.

While the Dan Shim Sa was taking place, the rest of the group participated in a general workout session led by Mrs. Noelle Drewicz and Mr. Oleg Khodko, both Sam Dans.

The 2011 APTSDF New England Black Belt Camp took place May 13-15 at Camp Winadu in Pittsfield, MA.

Eight students took part in the Dan Shim Sa: 2 for Sam Dan, 2 for E Dan, 4 for Cho Dan. The Best Test award for youth went to Haley McClure of Southbury Academy of Karate. The Adult Best Test award was given to Noelle Drewicz of Cambridge Tang Soo Do.

During the Dan Shim Sa on Friday night, the rest of the group rotated through three exercises. Mr. Mark Farquarson, 4th Degree Black Belt worked with us on forms and flow sets, Ms. Kayla Turgeon led a drill on Tang Soo Do combinations, and Mr. O'Sullivan offered Ho Sin Sul techniques.

The Southeastern region of the Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation had its annual black belt camp on the weekend of October 22-24, 2010. It was held at Camp ASCCA in Jackson’s Gap, AL, for the tenth time. Camp started on Friday evening with the fall black belt test. There were approximately fifty participants, almost all of whom exceeded their instructors’ expectations to make for a very successful exam. Best test went to Benjamin Leverett of Two Dragons Martial Arts for the children and Jackie Snezek of Karate World of North Georgia for the adults.

The 2010 Atlantic Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation New England Black Belt Camp and Regional Dan Shim Sa took place over the May 21st-23rd weekend. This was the 4th annual event of its kind in the New England region. The setting was YMCA Camp Woodstock in the Northeastern hills of Connecticut, where the picturesque background set the stage for a wonderful and productive time. Some 20 test candidates brought their skills and talents to the test center on Friday evening and performed admirably for the test panel.

On the weekend of July 10-12, 2009, the Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation held its annual Southeastern Regional Black Belt Camp. It was the first camp held at Children’s Harbor on Alabama’s Lake Martin, as well as the first ever to welcome red belts. Seven masters and two master’s candidates were present, apart from Grandmaster John St. James, the President and Founding Master of the APTSDF.
