Q: What inspires you to continue training? |
I have been doing this for over 34 years. TSD has always been my first love and the one thing that always brings my life
back to center even through difficult times. I enjoy training hard and the way it makes me feel (energized.)
Teaching TSD gives me a feeling of satisfaction. To watch a student grow within the training I have provided is a wonderful thing. |
Q: What is your profession outside of TSD? |
I am a Tactile Responder/Armed Nuclear Security Officer for a local nuclear power plant.
I have been doing that for almost 10 years. Prior to that, I was a Loss Prevention Officer for a large grocery chain.
I have been involved in security and law enforcement my entire adult life. |
Q: What are some of your favorite memories or accomplishments in TSD? |
You always remember the big moments, like when I received my 1st Dan in 1984; my 4 Dan (Sa Bom) in 1999;
winning my first Grand Championship at a tournament and winning Black Belt fighting champion for a regional
open tournament ranking organization. But it's the little moments that give me great satisfaction:
like when a hard working student passes their first belt testing; or when a student finally begins to perform
a difficult technique with much better strength and control; or the time a former black belt student defends
himself effectively against a mugger in NYC and the Mom reaches out to say thank you.
I have very much enjoyed learning TSD and I intended to continue learning, growing and
sharing as long as I can physically do so. |
