2014 Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation Masters Clinic & National Championships

On July 23rd, 24th, 25th & 26th 2014, the Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation hosted its annual Ko Dan Ja Master’s Clinic and National Championships. The events took place at Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, GA.

As I sit here and reflect over the past week of events, I am again struck by the experience. The physical and mental challenges of the Masters clinic, the excitement of seeing old friends and meeting new ones, the thrill of seeing martial arts preformed at the highest level, the pride in seeing students step out of their comfort zone and face their own challenges. It was again an extremely rewarding experience.

2014 New England Black Belt Camp and Dan Shim Sa

For the second consecutive year, the New England Regional Black Belt Camp was held at the picturesque campus of Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts, over the weekend of May 30th to June 1st. The College was founded in 1885 and is the birthplace of both Basketball and Volleyball. The campus, steeped in history and tradition, made the perfect setting for a weekend of Tang Soo Do learning.

2014 Southeastern Regional Championships and Dan Shim Sa

On the weekend of April 25th  26th, the southeastern region of the Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation had its spring cycle Dan Shim Sa (Black Belt test) and review, as well as its annual championships in Trussville, Alabama.  As always, it was a great opportunity to renew friendships, test ourselves and strengthen our Tang Soo spirit.

2014 APTSDF TAC Tour - The Art of Dae Ryun (Building the Foundation)

This year’s Technical Advisory Committee’s “TAC” Tour was the best to date. The tour which was conducted by Grandmaster John St. James, 8th Dan and Senior Master Michael Jett, 5th Dan started in early February in Louisiana and just wrapped up a week ago in Lindale, Texas. During the four (4) week seminar tour, Kwan Jang Nim and Master Jett taught 435 students from eleven (11) different states making this year’s tour over 100 students larger than any tour before it.

2013 Southwestern Regional Championships and Dan Shim Sa

"Tang Soo Do Rocks the South Plains"
“Tang Soo!” was heard shouted across the South Plains the weekend of November 15, 2013.  The weekend began with a Dan Shim Sa (Black Belt Test) and followed by the 1st ever Southwestern Regional Championships, a grand reopening of the recently expanded regional school West Texas Karate, a Leadership Seminar, a Certified Instructor Training (CIT) examination, and an instructor clinic. All events were hosted by West Texas Karate in Lubbock, Texas. The events were complemented by Lubbock hospitality to the many visiting students, instructors, school owners, masters, and of course Grandmaster John St. James.
